Ask at the right moment
The best time is right after a good result, before the patient leaves. A QR code or a link on their phone works better than a follow-up email days later.
Make it one tap
Send patients straight to your Google review form, not your profile. In your Google Business Profile, use the "Ask for reviews" link.
Two rules not to break
- No incentives. Do not offer discounts, credits or gifts in exchange for a review. This includes "leave a review and get $10 off".
- No review gating. Do not ask only patients you think are happy, or screen people before sending them to Google. Ask everyone the same way.
Breaking these rules can get reviews removed or your profile restricted.
Pair it with referrals, but keep them separate
A patient who just sent a friend a gift is in a generous mood, so it is a good time to ask for a review too. The review must never be a condition of the referral reward. Clinvite asks every patient the same way after they send invites, and keeps the review ask separate from any reward.
Referrals and reviews from one QR sign
Clinvite asks for a Google review at the right moment, the same way for everyone, never tied to a reward.
Common questions
Can I offer a discount for a Google review?
No. Google's policies forbid offering incentives in exchange for reviews.
Can I ask only happy patients for reviews?
No. Selectively asking for positive reviews, sometimes called review gating, is against Google's policies. Ask everyone the same way.
What is the best time to ask for a review?
Right after a good visit, while the patient is still in the clinic, with a direct link they can tap on their phone.
